Bacon Burger Dogs

Sticking with my "BBQ everything this Summer" theme I decided to try to create bacon burger dogs to put a brand new twist on the ever so boring hamburger/hot dog.

Let me tell you this... These were amazing!

I started off with lean ground burger then added about 4 slices of bacon cut up.
Seasoning's!  I added Garlic Powder, Onion Powder and Black Pepper
 Squeeze some mustard in there...
Shake some Worcestershire sauce and Soy sauce in there for even more flavour.
Finally! Form burger into "dogs" then wrap them in bacon!
 Mmm! Bacon!
I slow cooked them on the BBQ on the top rack at about 350
Keep a close eye on them while on the BBQ. Due to the fat dripping off the bacon you are more than likely going to have a few grease fires spitting up and toasting your burger dogs, which could get pretty messy and result in black/burnt burger dogs haha

Served with old fashioned potato salad and rice & veggie salad.

I plan to enjoy the summer months and BBQ season for as long as possible!  :)

With a smile on your face, good food to eat and a nice cold beverage you can't go wrong.

Bacon Burger Dogs
1 lb of ground burger (you can also use ground chicken, pork, turkey)
1 pkg of bacon (you can also opt for the lower fat recipe and use Turkey or Chicken Bacon)
1 tsp Garlic powder
1 tsp Onion powder
1 tbs Mustard
1 tbs Soy sauce
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Dash of Pepper (opt)
(opt) 1 small onion chopped (I was missing this)

Directions
Mix all ingredients in bowl and be sure to really get in there and mix it up and make sure your sauces and seasoning's get distributed throughout.

Form into "dogs" roughly the same length as the buns you decide to serve them in. In this case I used street dog buns with poppy seeds which are larger than a regular hot dog bun but yet smaller than a sub bun :)

Gently yet tightly wrap your "burger dogs" in bacon. I found 3 pieces of bacon per dog covered it well from end to end but again it depends on the size of your dogs. You do however want to make sure that you don't have it too thick to prevent under cooking the burger inside and burning your bacon off. It can be tricky  haha

Once your burger dogs are formed, wrapped and ready, preheat your BBQ on low until the temp reaches roughly 400 then you can brush BBQ sauce over your burger dogs or chuck them on plain Jane. Either way they will be amazing!  Set them on the top rack and put out any grease fires that may come up and attack your burger dogs turning them into burnt black logs.

Serve on your bun of choice with whichever toppings and/or condiments you wish and pair with your favorite side and enjoy!  :)
