I have been hearing it from every direction I turn "When are you going to update your blog?" so I figured it's about time to crawl out of my lawn chair and do just that!
The weather has been amazing lately here in Nova Scotia so that means more BBQ meals and less turning that dreaded hot oven on.
If you know me then you know that the easier the better ;) So again I found some ingredients and thought about what I could come up with. I had a few things to make some pizza's but no tomatoes to make sauce so I dug around and saw the Heinz Ketchup in the fridge and the wheels started turning. Voila! Cheeseburger pizzas!
Started with the prepackaged pizza crust that you just have to add water to... unfortunately I can't seem to figure out how to just add water and it work hahaha so I bat my eyelashes and get my husband to do that part for me. Who would have known such an easy task such as adding 1/2 cup of water would be so hard, but I always manage to mess up the easiest of things. I like to think of it as a talent haha
Note the pizza pans in the background. Not quite sure why we choose not to use them :)
Mmm Cheeseburger sauce fresh from my head. I just picked things out and chucked them together (what I do best) This consisted of Ketchup, brown sugar, a touch of Worcestershire sauce, a dab of Soy sauce along with a shake or two of onion powder and garlic powder. It turned out very well! I do not measure things but if I were to guess it would have been about 1 1/2 cups of ketchup, 1/3 - 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and about 4 dabs of each the Worcestershire and Soy sauce.
Browned ground beef with onions and mushrooms. You can top it with toppings of your choice. I added more onion and green onions along with topping mine off with thinly sliced tomatoes.
I decided at last minute that I was going to "cheat" and leave the pizza's in the pans the whole time instead of putting them directly on the grill. We lost our grill marks in doing so but we ended with a nice golden crispy crust so it worked out well.
We personally thought they resembled the flavors of Burger Kings Whopper (especially mine with the tomatoes on top)
So why not dig through the cupboards and shelves and see what kind of new food adventure you can get yourself into :)
